Consultation register: notification of publication of a
consultation document Version 14 Dec
Objectives
This document sets out the procedures for departments,
agencies and non-departmental public bodies to provide information on
consultation exercises to the central register of government consultations
on UK Online. The register is part of a package of measures launched in on
27 November 2000 to improve public consultation, including the Code
of Practice on Written Consultation
What information is needed?
The central register will require all the information
listed below in the form. Please provide a contact point (not for
publication) in case any of the information needs to be queried.
Once the summary of responses is published and when the
outcome of the consultation is published, you will need to inform the
register of where these documents are available.
The central register
The central register will be maintained on the UK
online citizen portal by the e-Communications team within
the Cabinet Office. The register will be searchable and will provide links
to consultation documents and e-mail contact points for consultees.
As the citizen portal project develops there are plans to
offer automatic e-mail notification of consultations to users who have
registered specialist interests and to provide online discussion groups on
consultation topics in parallel with the consultation itself, if a
department wishes.
