Improving Public Service Delivery

The purpose of this page is to collect information on some of the many ideas that have been introduced around the country to improve the delivery of public services, and to contribute examples to the online database that has been set up by the Cabinet Office to help the exchange of such ideas across the public sector. We would like to hear about ideas that have worked well, and those that haven't (quite often people learn more from what hasn't worked than from what has). 

When contributing ideas, it would be helpful if you could use the the Best Practice Proforma or address the points it covers (listed below) and return, preferably via  e-mail, to Katie French at: bestpractice@cabinet-office.gov.uk

The proforma asks the following questions:

Your organisation
Your section
Name and address and telephone number
Please describe the idea and what it was designed to achieve
Why it was introduced
If there was a cost associated with its introduction, and if this can be quantified, approximately how much was it?
How has service to the user improved as a result, and how did you test this?
