On Friday 3rd March, sixteen members of the Russell Commission Youth Advisory Board (V20) joined the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, for breakfast at Number 11.
The breakfast meeting gave V20 the opportunity to share their views on the future of youth volunteering in England, and to discuss the barriers and incentives that encourage young people to get involved.
The breakfast was also attended by some of the Russell Commission charity’s Founding Partners, including Frans Lijnkamp from T-Mobile, Ben Stimpson from Sky, Neil Sherlock from KPMG and Debra Stones from Tesco.
The Chancellor was also joined by Home Office Minister, Hazel Blears, Education & Skills Minister, Beverley Hughes and Work & Pensions Minister Stephen Timms, who took part in the discussions.
The Chancellor expressed his support for the new Russell Commission charity which will be launched in early May, and asked V20 members to visit him again, once the charity is up and running, to update him on their progress.
