The Warship Support Agency was formed on 2nd April 2001 by the merger of the majority of the Naval Bases and Supply Agency (NBSA) and the Ships Support Agency (SSA), both of which were part of the former Naval Support Command, and since 1st April, 2000 the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO). Its role is to supply the fleet worldwide.
