The Government Gateway is an important part of delivering joined-up government. It enables citizens and businesses to communicate and make secure, online transactions with many parts of government from a single point of entry. The Gateway makes e-government a reality: modernising the way that we do business within government. It also allows citizens and businesses to seamlessly interact with government departments and bodies through a variety of diverse channels, services and applications software. All without them having to understand the actual workings of government.
Government conducts 5 billion transactions a year with citizens and businesses, spread over 20 large departments, 480 local authorities and more than 200 agencies. The UK online programme aims to make those transactions available electronically, in a customer focused form, and in a joined-up fashion by 2005 – the Gateway is the cornerstone of this initiative.
Our Common Infrastructure services are all managed and supported in line with service management best practice. All service management activity is covered with your managed service charges, although there are some additional services you may want to utilise which will be priced separately.
