THE GOVERNMENT'S UK ONLINE STRATEGY

These pages explain the UK Online Strategy, the Government’s comprehensive programme to lead the knowledge economy revolution, and how the Strategy is managed.

The Government’s programme to ensure that the UK is a world-leader in the new knowledge economy is the UK Online Strategy. The Strategy, which was published as part of the e-Minister and e-Envoy’s first Annual Report, sets out a range of recommendations for action across the e-agenda.

Departmental e-Ministers

The UK Online Strategy is overseen by the e-Minister and the e-Envoy, who report directly to the Prime Minister. At a political level, the e-Minister is supported by Ministerial colleagues across Whitehall, known as 'e-Ministers'. For more information, go to the e-Ministers pages. .

e-Champions

At an official level, the e-Minister and e-Envoy are supported by a group of ‘e-Champions’. The e-Champions are a group of senior officials from each Government Department (formerly Information Age Government Champions). For more information, go to the e-Champions pages.

UK Online Annual Report

The e-Minister and e-Envoy published their third Annual Report in November 2002. The Annual Report set out the progress made in meeting the Government’s objectives and established the UK Online Strategy to drive forward future progress. UK Online Action Plan

The UK Online Strategy, as set out in the UK Online Annual Report, includes 133 detailed recommendations covering 26 commitments to ensure that the UK is at the forefront of the knowledge economy revolution. For more information, go to the Action Plan pages.
