ukonline.gov.uk Citizen Portal Provides comprehensive access to government information published on the Internet
Government Gateway Registering with the Government Gateway enables you to sign up for any of the UK Government’s services that are available over the Internet.
UK GovTalk The purpose of this site is to enable the Public Sector, Industry and other interested parties to work together in developing and agreeing policies and standards for e-government.
e-venturing.gov.uk To enable those with innovative ideas for customer centric delivery of public services to have an opportunity to take them forward.
e-democracy.gov.uk A site created to support the government's consultation on e-democracy. You can see the proposals, respond to the consultation, link into ongoing discussions, look at background material and make suggestions for more.
Office of Government Commerce The OGC is civil government’s centre of excellence in procurement (which concerns the whole life cycle of an asset or service) and works with departments, their executive agencies and NDPBs to achieve best value in commercial activities.
Performance and Innovation Unit The Performance and Innovation Unit (PIU) provides the Prime Minister and Government departments with a capacity to analyse major policy issues and design strategic solutions. Recent reports include e-commerce and e-government.
Cabinet Office The Cabinet Office sits at the heart of Government, alongside the Prime Minister’s Office and the Treasury. Its aim is to ensure that the Government delivers its priorities.
Modernising Government The Modernising Government programme is the Government's agenda for modernising Public Services.
Society of IT Management (SOCITM) The primary objective of the Society is to promote the effective and efficient use of Information Technology in Local Government and the Public Sector.
Local Government Association Representative body for local government.
National Audit Office The National Audit Office scrutinises public spending on behalf of Parliament.
Parliament The UK Parliament website.
Improvement and Development Agency (I&DeA) The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) was founded in April 1999, by local government, to work with it and for it and help it do better.
tScheme tScheme is a co-regulatory body set up to provide accreditation of trust service providers. Any third party providing registration and authentication services for e-government transactions should be approved by tScheme or an equivalent.
Work Permits (UK) Work Permits (UK) is part of the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Directorate, based in Sheffield, England. We administer the work permit
arrangements on behalf of the UK government.

The work permit arrangements allow employers based in the United Kingdom to employ people who are not nationals of a European Economic Area country and are not entitled to work in this country.

ukonlineforbusiness.gov.uk The DTI's UK online for business provides small businesses with impartial advice on using Information and Communications Technologies.
Direct Access Government The one-stop shop for business to access regulatory guidance and forms published on government websites.
Department of Trade and Industry – Information Age The DTI is committed to ensuring that UK businesses are in the best position to be able to exploit the immense potential of the Information Age. This page lists many of the initiatives that the DTI and other parts of Government currently operate - often with help from other partner organisations.
Department of Trade and Industry – Communications and Information Industries Directorate CII works with industry and the science base to improve the global competitiveness of the UK's communications, information and electronics businesses, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the UK economy and improving the quality of life in the UK.
SITPRO The trade facilitation agency dedicated to simplifying international trade procedures.
OFTEL The Office of Telecommunications (Oftel) is the regulator for the UK telecommunications industry.
The Radiocommunications Agency Responsible for the management of the non-military radio spectrum in the UK.
Communications White Paper website This White Paper sets out the Government's response to the new communications environment.
Office of the Information Commissioner The Commissioner (formerly the Data Protection Registrar) has a range of duties including the promotion of good information handling and the encouragement of codes of practice for data controllers, that is, anyone who decides how and why personal data, (information about identifiable, living individuals) are processed.
Home Office - Encryption Co-ordination Unit The purpose of the Encryption Co-ordination Unit is to ensure that the development of security systems protecting e-commerce and the telecommunications infrastructure are, as far as possible, compatible with the needs of law enforcement for a continuing flow of intelligence and evidence.

Internet Watch Foundation The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) was launched in late September 1996 to address the problem of illegal material on the Internet, with particular reference to child pornography.

Trading standards officers Provides consumer advice on legal rights when shopping on-line, and for general e-shopping guidance.
Office of Fair Trading Provides consumer advice on legal rights when shopping on-line, and for general e-shopping guidance.
The Consumers Association/Which? Provides consumer advice on legal rights when shopping on-line, and for general e-shopping guidance.
Internet Services Providers Association Represents 95% of the ISP dial-up market in the UK. Members have signed up to the ISPA Code of Conduct.
Parents website Provides information about childrens’ safe use of the internet.
Superhighway Safety Provides information about childrens’ safe use of the internet.
Trust UK An industry led digital Hallmark initiative which will put in place an Internet disputes arbitration service and a mechanism for policing its standards.
Information Assurance Advisory Council The Information Assurance Advisory Council is a unique partnership that brings together corporate leaders, public policy makers, law enforcement and the research community to address the challenges of information infrastructure protection. IAAC's aim is to work for the creation of a safe and secure Information Society.
Electronic Commerce: The UK's Taxation Agenda The taxation issues raised by e-commerce are considered in more detail by Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise in this report.
e-Europe The European Commission action plan to bring the benefits of the Information Society within reach of all Europeans.
