The
Central Strategy Unit provides strategic support to the e-Minister
and the e-Envoy on their broader e-economy responsibilities.
The
UK government is committed to developing the UK as the best
environment for electronic business. The e-Strategy group
will do this by working with partners across the public, private
and voluntary sectors as well as internationally. e-Strategy
looks at the following areas: internet access, modern markets
and market analysis.
The
CSU also compiles the monthly and annual reports to the Prime
Minister, updates the Action Plan and manages the e-champions
network. In addition, the unit has responsibility for Regions
and International.

ensure that all services are online by 2005. The Market
Development team works with other departments and partners,
to develop policies and implement projects that contribute
toward the goal of internet access for all.

The government wants a
vibrant and competitive business community that uses
e-Commerce in order to excel. The Market Framework team
takes a lead in this by developing the Market Framework
Policy, which focuses on creating the right regulatory
environment and promoting consumer confidence.

The Market Framework team
has responsibility for compiling the annual and monthly
report to the Prime Minister, and updating the Action
Plan which gives progress on how the UK is doing against
the milestones and outcomes set in the UK online strategy.
It also manages the e-Champions network - representatives
from each central Government Department, Devolved Administration
and Local Government body who work as a group to support
the e-Minister and the e-Envoy in driving forward the
UK online Strategy.

with all official correspondence and manage the OeE
helpdesk. The Private Office provides administrative
