The Deputy Prime Minister spoke alongside the Jamaican Prime Minister,
Portia Simpson-Miller, at Labour Day Celebrations, “Honouring our
Ancestors… Strengthening communities”, as part of the UK's programme to commemorate the
bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade. He held bilateral meetings
with the Jamaican Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Anthony Hylton,
and the Bicentenary Committee. He also visited a sugar factory, a school
and attended the National Labour Day event with a number of Jamaican
Ministers.
